Preview: The 2014 Chapter Leaders Workshop

At THE Performance Improvement Conference, the Chapter Partnership Committee presents the Chapter Leaders Workshop (CLW). This year, we will hold the workshop Sunday, April 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event is free and open to all chapter leaders. Our intent is to have at least one representative from each chapter attend the workshop. Chapter leaders will report back to their boards by summarizing the experience, sharing print materials, and discussing implications for their chapters.

Chapter Corner: ISPI Montreal Reemerged on October 29!

On October 29, the ISPI Montreal Chapter held their 2013 Launch Event. This successful night boasted 101 attendees, or 90% of registered attendees, which is a great start to an emerging chapter! An energetic buzz about the launch began weeks before the event. Word of mouth and a social media campaign resulted in the event being sold out! This energy continued throughout the evening as people gathered together to share experiences and stories in the modern venue surrounded by the delectable food provided by CN. Accompanied by the talented musician Greg Halpin, it became the hub for networking and making connections.

In September, I shared how chapters could avoid being in problem-solving mode by spending more time with upfront planning and even orchestrating how your board and committees serve professionals. Many chapters have annual one-day planning meetings in which the president invites the board, committee members, sponsoring organizations, and interested members to partake in critical discussions to revisit the vision and mission, conduct high-level analyses, and design goals and tactics for communications, finance, membership, programming, and public relations.

The Chapter Partnership Committee (CPC) facilitates monthly chapter leader conference calls to help communicate with chapters and share ideas. All virtual calls occur at 7:00 PM Eastern time. All chapter leaders are welcomed to block time in their schedules for these calls.
