Your people may need development opportunities, but the sending them to conferences and workshops could be costly. You could have them participate in the various free webinars, but most of those do not have the substance that your people need.
Many ISPI chapters offer value-added workshops at a fraction of the cost of national conferences. Several of our ISPI leaders make this possible by offering their services at either no cost or a small cost to the chapter. Even if attending requires airfare and an overnight stay, the expenses still are reasonable.
Where to Look for these Workshops
Before deciding on travel dates for business trips, check out the Chapter Upcoming Events webpage in the ISPI Collaborate community. There, you can find low-cost events that may give your organization revenue-generating or cost-saving ideas that could provide your organization with a competitive advantage.

The MAKE WORK GREAT Workshop

Location: Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, MI
Ed Muzio, award-winning author, shares insights on how to improve the work experience. Included in the workshop is a copy of his latest book, Make Work Great. Here are just a few ways to make the work experience better:
- Avoid being influenced by negative aspects of organizational “culture”
- Clarify your own work, your interdependencies on others, and ways to maximize your collective output for the benefit of the organization

Jack Phillips, ISPI’s Past President, has published multiple books and articles about return on investment (ROI). For those who cannot attend the workshop, Phillips will facilitate an evening event on September 12.
