Recently I had a conversation with a member asking me to explain Collaborate; and as soon as I mentioned “log on” and “password,” I could tell by the look on his face he was completely turned off. He does not use social media because of this issue–having to remember all the information just to get into your account is a little overwhelming for some people. I completely understand this argument–between my work and private email and network user names and passwords, secondary email accounts, social media, and profile log on for different sites, it is very true, and it is a lot to remember. You also do not want to take the easy route and use the same passwords. If someone were to get into your system and needed just one password to access your bank accounts and email, your identity is as good as stolen. In the meanwhile, I started digging and came across a few applications, and one really struck a cord with me–Dashlane.

Dashlane is an application, or program, for your computer and phone. It is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, iPhone, and Android platforms. Dashlane is a great application that has very useful features (1 | Dashlane):

  • Express Checkout
  • Password Manager
  • Security Alerts
  • Secure Sending
  • Smart Form Filing
  • Secure Notes

Complete any purchase in seconds, on any website. Dashlane automatically fills out checkout fields–and you never have to touch the keyboard, be it on your computer or mobile device. (2 | Dashlane)

Now, all you will have to remember is a master password, and no one will has access to it, not even Dashlane. Dashlane saves all your logins and passwords securely, under your control. (3 | Dashlane)

Online security breaches are common these days, and with Dashlane you will be alerted if a domain may be compromised. (4 | Dashlane)

With Dashlane’s secure sending, you can share encrypted data with Dashlane users and non-users that can only be opened by the recipient. (5 | Dashlane)

The autofill feature is for online forms for government forms, applications, and account registration; the pages are analyzed and automatically filled out for you. (6 | Dashlane)

The Secure Notes feature was developed to keep additional personal and private information secure. (7 | Dashlane)

Dashlane is a great application that I am recommending to everyone. It is an easy way to keep private information private, but have access to it wherever you are. Check out the Dashlane website—https://www.dashlane.com/en—for more information and to download the app.

Wordle
Wordle is an application for generating “word clouds” from text provided from individual sources or blogs. The clouds give more prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. The clouds can be changed to use different kinds of cloud or text layout, colors, and fonts. (8 | Wordle) It is a great application to add color to any blog or text document.

Try it yourself—see www.wordle.net/create for more information.
