Joseph FikselBy Elaine Steiner, 2011 Conference Committee

I caught up with Dr. Fiksel (Joseph) in the height of the December holiday rush to learn more about his presentation in April and how we, the attendees at the conference, will use this information on an everyday basis.

Joseph quickly helped me understand in simple terms the necessity to be resilient, and that will be the theme of his presentation. There is no magic bullet and it took a long time for him to understand what we need to know today; the time is right and the time is now for Joseph to share his life work.

He has over 25 years’ experience in research and with a variety of industries helping organizations understand environmental and social responsibility and how to work it into their work processes. More and more this need is apparent and being brought to light as we realize the importance as organizations strive to survive, adapt, and grow in the face of turbulent change. Do you have what it takes and are you ready for the future? Are you resilient, if so how do you know you are?

During the presentation, Joseph will share his knowledge to help us think about and understand the need to be resilient so we can help organizations become resilient to meet what is coming. He will help us understand where the thinking and process starts; the support that is needed; how to engage those into compelling, real situations; the importance of communication that is strong and clear; and a new way of learning. We need to get out of our comfort zone, push others of their comfort zone, and help get others involved and engaged through interactivity and action learning. Perhaps a new way of working lean, learning, and sustaining new behaviors.

Sustainable Enterprise Principles applies to a company that achieves enduring growth and superior long-term financial performance by addressing the social, economic, and environmental needs of present and future generations of stakeholders. It includes customers, shareholders, employees, local communities, regulators, lenders, suppliers, business partners, and advocacy groups–everyone! It is excellence in quality and value of products and services, business ethics, economic well-being, social well-being, and environmental well-being.

Are you able to help others and organizations be resilient, change and sustain behaviors, and help them to meet the challenges and future demands? Dr. Joseph Fiksel will help you so you can help others!
